Commercial Building Envelope Testing & Roof Inspections in Kansas City

Catch the small leak before it becomes a building problem.

Independent envelope testing for commercial owners and developers: blower door, ASTM and AAMA water testing, and TPO roof inspections with electronic leak detection. We find the breach early, before it becomes water damage, mold, or a costly failure.

Fast turnaround. Most quotes back within one business day, with testing scheduled around your trades.

Our Services

Four ways we prove the envelope works

Air, water, and roofing assemblies tested to published standards on commercial, multifamily, and high-performance residential projects.

Air Tightness

Blower Door Testing

Whole-building and unit-level air leakage testing to confirm your assembly hits the target, and to show you exactly where it doesn't.

  • Single and multi-fan RetroTec equipment
  • Code compliance testing, reports formatted up to 2024 code
  • Multifamily compartmentalization testing
  • Leak mapping with smoke and infrared

Water Intrusion

ASTM & AAMA Water Testing

Standardized ASTM and AAMA spray-rack and chamber testing on windows, doors, and wall assemblies to find water intrusion before drywall goes up.

  • ASTM E1105 field water penetration testing
  • ASTM E783 field air leakage on fenestration
  • AAMA 501.2 nozzle testing on static joints
  • Documented mock-up and in-place testing

Consulting

Exterior Envelope Consulting

Drawing review, detailing, and on-site observation so the envelope is right the first time, not litigated three years later.

  • Plan and submittal review before install
  • WRB, flashing, and transition detailing
  • Site observation and installer training
  • Forensic investigation and repair scoping

TPO / Flat Roofs

TPO Roof Inspections & Electronic Leak Detection

Commercial TPO and flat-roof inspections for owners, developers, and roofing contractors. Our electronic leak detection (ELD) pinpoints membrane breaches without cutting the roof apart, so a pinhole never becomes saturated insulation or a ceiling leak.

  • New-roof QA and pre-warranty inspections
  • Existing TPO and flat-roof condition assessments
  • Low-voltage and high-voltage ELD methods
  • Pinpoint breach locations, marked on site
  • Plaza deck and below-grade waterproofing

Why teams call GHB

Independent, credentialed, and on site. Not subcontracted out.

We don't sell sealant, membrane, or repair labor. The only thing we're selling is an accurate answer about your building.

Third-party independence

No repair work, no product lines, no conflict of interest. Owners and lenders accept the results because we have nothing to sell on the back end.

Reports that hold up

Testing performed to the letter of ASTM, AAMA, and RESNET protocol, formatted up to 2024 code requirements, documented with photos, instrument data, and clear pass/fail language.

Scheduled around your trades

We work the construction calendar, not ours. Testing windows are set so you aren't holding up drywall, siding, or a certificate of occupancy.

Small issues stay small

A failed flashing detail or membrane breach caught early costs a fraction of the leaks, mold, and envelope failures it causes after occupancy. We protect the owner and developer before a small issue becomes an expensive building problem.

How it works

From first call to signed-off report

Step 01

Scope call

Tell us the building, the standard you're testing to, and your schedule. We'll tell you what the test actually requires.

Our crew, our equipment, on Kansas City job sites

Real photos from real projects, no stock imagery. Here is what our testing looks like on commercial, multifamily, and residential job sites across the metro, and what each test tells you about the building.

Isolating the test areaOpenings are sealed and taped off before testing, so any leak can be traced back to one specific joint, flashing, or install detail.

About Us

A Kansas firm built around one question: is it actually sealed?

Green Home & Building is an independent building envelope testing and consulting firm based in De Soto, Kansas. Our team spent their careers on the construction side of the envelope, which is why our findings come with repair direction a superintendent can actually use, not just a number on a page.

We work for general contractors, developers, architects, roofing contractors, and building owners across the Kansas City metro and the surrounding region, on multifamily, hospitality, senior living, commercial, and high-performance residential projects.
